Soybean protein concentrate (SPC) is a soybean protein product containing 65% (dry base) protein (n × 6.25) after grinding, peeling, extraction, separation, washing, drying and other processing processes, which remove the oil and low molecular soluble non-protein components (mainly soluble sugar, ash, gliadin and various odor substances, etc.). Using low temperature meal as raw material, the content of protein was increased to 65% -70% by removing soluble sugar, ash and other soluble trace components from low temperature meal.

Main process

1. Soy Clearing 

 

       To remove out leaf,stone,clay,iron,etc. The impurity content index should be less than 0.5%, and the useful oil content index should be less than 1.5%.
      

2. Soy Grader 

to seperate to two kinds soy,one is bad soy(Incomplete grains, mildew, crushed particles, etc. can be used to produce secondary oil),good quality soy for the next step.

 

3 Soy dryer/Cooler:Hot air flow dryer is used for drying. The moisture content of soy is controlled at 5%~6% after drying. Then quickly use cold air to reduce the temperature of oil particles below 40ºC.


4.Soy Crusher/Peeler 

Crusher can use tooth roll crusher, the purpose is to remove the outer skin, after crushing with wind separator or suction screen to suck out the outer skin. 


5.Low temperature Pressing soy,or Extruder

 The cold press is used to press the soy oil, which has the characteristics of low temperature pressing, and the obtained oil has the original rich flavor.

Also it could use soy extruder to get the good quality soy meal .

 

6.Soy cake crusher 

Easy solvent immersion soy cake or meal.

Wet meal was obtained by defatting soybean cake with n-pentane as leaching solvent, and low temperature soybean meal was obtained by vacuum and low temperature desolubilization of wet meal into steaming line. 

The residual oil rate of soybean meal decreased to less than 1% ,the leaching temperature was 15 ºC-35 ºC,the leaching time was 20 min 35 min, and the leaching times were 3 times.

The vacuum degree of wet meal desorption is 73kpa-86kpa,the desolubilization temperature is 40 - 60 ºC,the desolubilization time is 0.5h ≤ 1h,the residual oil rate of low temperature soybean meal can reach less than 1%,the residual solvent 200mg/kg is below, and the protein NSI value of soybean meal is more than 80%.

 SPC Technology and process

   Working principle:

The soluble protein in low denatured defatted soybean meal (powder) can be dissolved inside water, but not in ethanol. When the concentration of ethanol is 50% - 60% (volume fraction), the solubility of soluble protein is the lowest. In contrast, ethanol affects oligosaccharide in soybean meal (powder). Some odorous ingredients and pigments have good solubility. Therefore, the defatted soybean meal (powder) can be treated with appropriate concentration of ethanol solution, then separated (and recovered ethanol), dried, the soybean protein concentrate with good color and flavor can be obtained.

 Process:

First soaking :After the low denatured defatted soybean meal was grinded to 50-100 mesh by hammer grinder, it was fed into the leaching tank with closed scraper conveyor. At the same time, 60% - 65% (volume fraction) ethanol solution was pumped into the leaching tank from the dilute ethanol tank, so that the mass ratio of soybean meal powder to ethanol solution was 1 : 7. The leaching tank can be equipped with more than one to take turns. Stir fully and soak at 50 degrees for 30 min. At this time, most of the soluble sugar, ash and some trace components in soybean meal powder are dissolved in ethanol solution. After once leaching, the ethanol solution was extracted by diaphragm pump from the high outlet pipe on the tank and sent to the distillation kettle for ethanol recovery.

 

 

 

   Second soaking:In order to obtain good products with light color and less odour, 80-90% ethanol (volume fraction) was fed into the leaching tank from the concentrated ethanol tank by pump for secondary leaching. The extraction temperature is 70 degrees and the stirring extraction time is 30 min. After the secondary leaching, the ethanol solution is released from the high outlet pipe on the tank to the dilute ethanol storage tank, and the ethanol leaching solution can be used for primary/first soaking. 

  The slurry material after secondary leaching is unloaded from the leaching tank and sent to the horizontal spiral centrifuge separator by diaphragm pump, and the separated ethanol leaching liquid flows into the distillation kettle to recover ethanol. The distillation kettle is also equipped with 2 for alternate use.

  

The wet content of the material unloaded from the horizontal centrifuge separator is about 70%. After moving into the vacuum dryer, under the turning of the continuous screw belt agitator, the pressure is 0.4mpa saturated steam through the sleeve of the cylinder wall, and the material is heated indirectly. The dryer is vacuumed by a vacuum device, and the absolute pressure is 21.3 - 7.9 KPA (vacuum degree 80-93.3kpa). The maximum heating temperature of the material is not more than 80 ºC, the drying time is 1 h, and the wet content is less than 7%. After unloading, the soybean protein concentrate is crushed. The yield of the product is about 50% of that of low denaturation defatted soybean meal.

  The ethanol and water vapor extracted from the vacuum dryer are condensed into liquid by condenser and flowed into the distillation kettle to recover ethanol. The ethanol steam from the distillation kettle is recovered and injected into the dilute ethanol tank through the condenser. Dilute ethanol was pumped into a high head tank and distilled into a distillation column with a distillation concentration of 80-95% (volume fraction) for recycling. The concentrated pulp released by distillation kettle, called soybean oligosaccharide, can be used as feed and refined as basic raw material for functional food.

 

 Part or all of the recovered ethanol is diluted with water below 40% of the ethanol concentration (volume and fraction). The one tower is a water extraction evaporator (the filling tower), the second is an ethanol recovery tower (either a filling tower or a shed tower). The heating of the tower can be done with a distillation device or by blowing steam directly into the tower.

   

The recovered ethanol containing odorous components: entered the upper part of the separation part of A tower from the supply entrance 1, and the water was given and extracted by the oil separator set up in the upper part of the distillation part, and the ethanol was diluted to less than 40% (volume fraction). At this time, the temperature of the extracted water and the oil-water separator is heated to 80 °95 ºC. Once the ethanol is diluted, some components of the heterodorous components are insoluble in the water, and then the oil is discharged out of the system by the oil separator 6. The diluted recovered ethanol flows into the separation section, where the heterodorous components are separated as low boiling point components, and at the same time the ethanol aqueous solution flows into a tank discharge liquid that improves the purity of a tank, which is supplied in the b tower for azeotropic distillation and becomes refined ethanol for recycling. With the increase of ethanol vapor, the heterodorous components separated from the separation part are in contact with the extracted water in distillation section 4. At this concentration, the ethanol with lower volatility is selectively absorbed by water. Under the condition of reflux, the concentrate 3 concentrates the distillate to the degree of azeotropic composition of ethanol. As a result, the heterodorous components with the lowest boiling point and ethanol are removed from the distillation system at the same time. In addition, in the water with higher boiling point than ethanol, the heterodorous components are insoluble and layered in separator 6 to remove the reservoir from the system. For the recovery of ethanol from raw materials, it is better to take the amount of ethanol as the standard and less than 5% as the standard. The reflux ratio is 5 ≤ 50. The reflux ratio is more ideal. B tower effluent contains a small amount of high boiling point impure, but does not feel odour at all. The refined ethanol is added to the above recovered ethanol and can be incorporated into the extraction solution as a raw material for recycling.
